Physician Performs a Focused Audit

FairCode physicians review the chart, including the codes already assigned by the coder. The physicians will recognize medical acronyms, ("Hx IHSS" for example, actually means "History of idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis".) They will translate incomprehensible handwriting. They can establish causal relationships between tests and therapy (a platelet count of 20,000 plus 3 platelet transfusions equals thrombocytopenia). They will draft an informed memo ("query") to the attending physician that permits more accurate coding of the patient’s record.

Every recommended change a physician makes is, in turn, audited for compliance with coding regulations by our Clinical Director. These results are provided monthly to the reviewing physician.
